Episode 1: The Right to Remain with Malik Rahim

In the first episode, our host Mary Annaise Heglar talks with Malik Rahim, a Black Panther and community activist, about what it meant to stay and fight for New Orleans and his work with Common Ground Collective. This conversation reminds us that everyone should have the right to remain in the places that they love.

This is a hard story to hear. Katrina revealed all the wrongs in New Orleans. And Malik tells them true. Some say Malik is a shiftless trouble maker. To me, Malik is a genuine mensch. Brave, smart and willing to put justice before his own well being.
